Episode 131 (UNCUT) - Phil Marshman MENTORING The Right Way

Phil Marshman is a podiatrist and hillbilly goat farmer who lives in Sarina's foothills in North Queensland, Australia.

He is the owner of Pioneer Podiatry, Mackay, which has been kicking arse for several years, mainly because he has developed an exceptional podiatry team through developing an amazing mentoring/internship training process.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Developing his mentoring and internship program.
  • Getting new team members up to speed fast and making them productive.
  • Mentoring millennials - what they’re great at, what they suck at.
  • How to create a culture of ownership.
  • Getting your team to see the business as their own.
  • Being a leader and developing leaders in the business.
  • Why having aligned values is more important than being a podiatrist with Olympic experience.
  • You are not just marketing to patients; you’re also marketing to new employees.
  • Why individual bonuses don't create a unified team.

"The mark of a really great business is to get average people to perform above average".

Final Tip

Make sure you find an employer that’s has a mentoring program and knows how to mentor.
