186 - Ciaran Canney the Foot Medic Group

Ciaran Canney is the director of the MSK podiatry clinic, Foot Medic, based in Glasgow, UK. He is the Co-Founder of the Foot Medic Group, a network of podiatry clinics across the UK and Ireland.

His business partner is Damian Murray, who was on this podcast on Episode 85: The Podiatrist in the Pinstriped Scrubs.

Today we discuss:

  • Building a brand in healthcare and the team to help you do it.
  • Growing your clinic through systems.
  • Why it takes time to create the right team.
  • Why you shouldn't copy what other podiatrists are doing because you could also be copying their mistakes.
  • Firing someone never gets easier; you just get used to having to do it.
  • Why you should always be one pound more than your competitors, not one pound less.
  • The three parts to the Foot Medic Group
    • Partnership Program
    • Mergers
    • Acquisitions
  • Avoiding negativity on social media.
  • Having a positive support network.

Final Tip

Don't compete with the practice down the road; instead, compete with yourself, and then you've got to commit and show up every day to make it a reality.
